Tanssin Talo is the first performance space dedicated to dance in Finland. Even though the main focus is on dance performances, the venue is designed as multi-purpose venue. To achieve the required flexibility, a new concept has been developed that combines the flexibility of black box theatres with possibilities of traditional proscenium theatres. The new building is attached to the former cable factory that is occupied by all sorts of companies of the cultural sector.

The Erkko Hall is the main venue with 700 seats on a retractable grandstand. This venue features a stunning exterior design by JKMM architects. However, the interior of this venue is no less magnificent. The industrial design fits incredibly well into the overall concept of the Cable Factory.

The concept of this black box theater allows a completely flexible use. The rectractable grandstand makes it possible to free up the space for other venue layouts within a very short time. In order to be prepared for all possible event layouts, two control rooms were built, one on the short and one on the long side of the room. And although the Black Box has a fully equipped stage tower with 44 fly bars and a proscenium bridge, a fly grid with stage machinery was also provided above the rest of the room.

The entire room is equipped with connections for production lighting and audio and video systems.

The existing Pannuhalli, a beautiful venue in the old cable factory that breathes the industrial charm of its past, has been transformed into a modern event venue. A fly grid was planned over the entire area. Since the roof construction could not bear the additional loads, it was completely rebuilt. This venue was also equipped with a rigging system as well as production lighting and audio/video systems.

A new foyer area connects the old and new buildings and forms the new central entrance for the Tanssin Talo. New wardrobes, storage areas and a new loading dock have been added. Great effort was made to get a good logistical layout and to achieve short distances for equipment and performers.
